Handheld Update to Version 2.1.1

There's an update available for the Ideal Handheld app on the App Store. The following has been improved/added and included in the latest release.

  1. New option to Mimic Server Menu Layout.
  2. Handheld Licence IP and POSServer IP
  3. Download Program Data is a separate option
  4. Order List renamed to Review/Send Order
  5. Can select up to 99 seats
  6. Idealpos 7 Improvements

New option to Mimic Server Menu Layout

This will use the same layout as the POS Screen with Tabs, Menus and Buttons. It doesn’t work with images either stored locally on the POS or copying images from the internet.

Handheld Licence IP and POSServer IP

You can now set two different IP’s on the app so that POSServer can be on a different PC to the POS Terminals that has the Handheld Licences. Requires an additional POS licence (Free). Details below.

Download Program Data is a separate option

In the previous version 2.0, the app would download program data (menus/items) every time it attempted to connect or lost connection. This can cause issues at sites with poor WIFI where it would time out trying to download all the data each time. Now, the communications frequently checks for the connection and table status, but doesn’t download program data unless you either manually do it using the settings menu option OR exit the app and re open it.

Order List renamed to Review/Send Order

Can select up to 99 seats

Idealpos 7 Improvements

In conjunction with the new app, we have also done a lot of work on the POS Side with the communication to the app. Basically, we now acknowledge an order as soon as it’s received with the order then put in a queue to be processed. This has helped where the app times out while waiting to get an acknowledgement. It was also reported that if the app timed out, the order was actually received at the POS so when the order was sent again it would double up the order and print twice.

We can now issue free of charge v7 POSServer Licences so that customers can use a dedicated PC to run POSServer for communications with the Handhelds. It was clear in our testing that a POS Terminal struggles to perform well when 3 or more handhelds are connect to it. POSServer also processes order considerably faster on a more powerful desktop computer than a POS Terminal.  When licenced as a POSServer, only these menu options are available: File, Utilities, Setup and Help, and the options within them are limited.
